Every February, the same emails arrive: “We’re 8 friends, we want the last week of July, the full canyon.” And every February we can still say yes. By June, for the same request, we are juggling dates. If you already know you are coming to the Tara in 2027, here is the case for booking now, while it is still snowing.
Peak dates genuinely fill up
July and August are when most of Europe takes holidays, and the Tara is at its warmest and friendliest. Boats, licensed guides and daily departures are finite. The 36 km full-canyon trip in particular runs with limited capacity per day — it is a full-day operation, not something we can double up endlessly. Early bookers pick their date; late bookers pick from what is left.
Your group stays together
This is the quiet benefit. A family of five or a group of ten needs seats in the same boats, on the same day, with the right guides — our team runs trips in English, German, Russian and Italian, and matching languages to groups is easier months out than days out. Book early and the whole logistics puzzle is solved before it exists.
Price stability
Our pricing is straightforward — 14 km rafting at €60, 36 km at €120, family combo €120 — and booking early locks the current season’s terms. What changes more is everything around the tour: accommodation and transport in peak weeks get more expensive the longer you wait.
The rest of the trip falls into place
Once your rafting date is fixed, everything else follows: you book your Zabljak apartment for the right nights (central places like Durmitor Retreat, 200 m from our office, go first in peak season), plan your driving route, and add a jeep safari or Nevidio canyoning around the anchor day. Booking rafting last means bending everything else around leftover dates.
