The 2026 Tara rafting season officially opens on May 1st, and this year we’re making it the most exciting opening yet. Three days of continuous rafting, live music on the riverbank, campfire evenings, and early-bird discounts for everyone who books before April 20th. Here’s everything new at Tara Kula Raft for the 2026 season — and why May 1st weekend is the most memorable way to start your Montenegro adventure.
Why May 1st Weekend Matters
May 1st (Labor Day / Praznik Rada) is a public holiday across Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, and much of the Balkans. Tens of thousands of travelers head to the mountains for a three-day weekend. On the Tara, we open the season with a ceremony that’s half celebration, half tradition — the river has just come alive with snowmelt, and the first rafts of the year carry veterans, first-timers, and returning guests side by side.
If you’ve ever wanted to see the Tara Canyon at its fullest, most powerful state — this weekend is it. Water levels are at seasonal maximum, rapids reach Class IV intensity, and the canyon walls are drenched in spring greenery.
